Terms of Service

Plain-language summary: Use MatricAce fairly and responsibly. The platform is for studying โ not for cheating, misuse or commercial exploitation. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms. Questions? Email support@matricace.co.za.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the MatricAce SA platform (available at matricace.co.za and as a web app), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must also agree to these terms on your behalf. Schools using MatricAce agree to these terms on behalf of their staff and enrolled students.
2. Eligibility
MatricAce is designed for:
- South African learners in Grade 10, 11 and 12
- Teachers and school administrators at registered South African schools
- Parents or guardians of enrolled students (view-only access)
The platform is intended for educational use in South Africa. We do not represent that content is appropriate or available outside of South Africa.
3. User Accounts
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- You must not share your account credentials with anyone
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- You must notify us immediately at support@matricace.co.za if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
- One account per person โ creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions is not permitted
4. Permitted Use
You may use MatricAce to:
- Study for your NSC / CAPS examinations
- Complete quizzes, mock exams, flashcard exercises and AI tutoring sessions
- Access study notes, past papers and subject content provided on the platform
- Track your own academic progress
- Communicate with your teacher through the in-app class stream (school accounts)
- Download content for offline study (where the offline feature is enabled)
5. Prohibited Conduct
โ The following are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account suspension:
- Using the platform to cheat in official DBE examinations or school assessments
- Sharing exam questions or answers obtained through the platform with others during or before an official examination
- Attempting to access other users' accounts or data without permission
- Reverse-engineering, scraping, or copying the platform's content or code for commercial use
- Using automated bots or scripts to interact with the platform
- Uploading or distributing malicious code, spam, or harmful content
- Harassing, threatening or abusing other users through any in-app feature
- Misrepresenting your identity or school affiliation
- Attempting to circumvent payment systems or access Premium features without a valid subscription
- Using the AI tutor to generate content that is dishonest, harmful or inappropriate
6. School & Teacher Accounts
Schools that subscribe to MatricAce agree to the following additional terms:
- Authorised users: Schools are responsible for ensuring that only enrolled learners and authorised staff access the platform using the school's credentials
- Student data: Schools are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from parents/guardians before enrolling minor students, in compliance with POPIA
- Teacher responsibilities: Teachers must use their dashboards responsibly and may not access student data beyond what is necessary for their educational role
- No reselling: School licences may not be resold or transferred to another institution without written consent from MatricAce SA
- Fair use: The number of active student accounts must not exceed the number specified in the school's subscription
7. Subscriptions & Payment
Free Tier
MatricAce offers a free tier with access to core study features. Free users may see advertisements on the web platform (not inside the student app).
Premium Subscription
- Premium is available at R69/month per student (individual) or negotiated school rates
- Payment is processed securely via Flutterwave. We do not store your payment card details.
- Subscriptions automatically renew monthly unless cancelled before the renewal date
- You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period โ no partial refunds are issued for unused days
- School subscriptions are invoiced annually or termly and paid via EFT. School contracts include a 14-day cancellation notice requirement.
Refund Policy
We offer a 7-day refund for new Premium subscribers who are not satisfied with their first purchase. To request a refund, email support@matricace.co.za within 7 days of your first payment. After 7 days, or for subsequent billing cycles, refunds are not available.
8. Content & Intellectual Property
Our Content
All content on MatricAce โ including study notes, question banks, flashcards, subject explanations, platform design and code โ is the intellectual property of MatricAce SA and is protected by South African copyright law. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute this content without written permission, except for your own personal study use.
DBE / CAPS Content
Some content is based on the South African National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) and past DBE examination papers, which are publicly available documents. MatricAce SA is an independent educational tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially associated with the Department of Basic Education (DBE).
User-Generated Content
If you submit feedback, bug reports, or suggestions to MatricAce SA, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that input to improve the platform.
9. AI Features
MatricAce uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to provide tutoring explanations, generate quiz questions and assist with study planning. Please note:
- AI responses are generated automatically and may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies
- AI explanations are meant to support learning โ they should be verified against your textbooks and teacher's guidance for official assessments
- Do not use AI responses as definitive answers in school examinations or formal assessments
- MatricAce SA is not liable for any academic consequences arising from reliance on AI-generated content
- The AI daily cap (number of AI calls per day) may be adjusted at any time based on service availability
10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
MatricAce SA provides the platform "as is" and makes no guarantees that:
- Use of the platform will result in improved examination results
- The platform will be available without interruption or error at all times
- All content is free from inaccuracies (though we work hard to ensure accuracy)
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, MatricAce SA's total liability for any claim arising from use of the platform shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms of Service, with or without prior notice in cases of serious violation. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@matricace.co.za.
Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers and governing law survive termination.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or related to these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any dispute informally before pursuing legal action.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
